Women's Leadership Speaker Australia

Ambition, visibility, reinvention — and becoming more comfortable wanting more.

Gabriella Pomare is an Australian women’s leadership speaker, award-winning author, family lawyer, business owner, podcast host and media commentator who speaks about ambition, visibility, professional identity, reinvention and the reality of building a meaningful career alongside a meaningful life.

Her career has not followed a single lane. Gabriella has built a career in family law while also becoming an author, international speaker, podcast host, media commentator, and public voice on relationships and communication. She has published books while managing a professional-services business, crafted a media profile while practicing law, and developed a personal brand within a profession where visibility can sometimes feel uncomfortable. Additionally, she has raised children while continuing to pursue ambitious professional goals, learning along the way that women are often encouraged to be ambitious — until that ambition becomes visible.

Her approach to women's leadership speaking goes beyond urging audiences to simply “believe in themselves.” It delves into the more intricate questions surrounding ambition: What do you do when you want more? What happens when your identity outgrows the version of your career you originally envisioned? Why do women so often qualify their achievements? Why can visibility feel uncomfortable? How do you build something new without abandoning what you have already achieved? What does leadership look like when life does not unfold according to plan?

WOMEN, AMBITION & VISIBILITY

Women are often taught to work hard, and while being seen working hard is acceptable, expressing a desire for success can feel less comfortable. Many women soften their ambition, attributing success to luck, hesitating before putting themselves forward, and worrying about appearing self-promotional. They often wait until feeling overwhelmingly qualified before saying yes, only to discover that visibility brings its own wave of criticism. Gabriella explores the complex relationship women can have with success, particularly the disparity between privately held ambition and publicly owning that ambition. Her message is not that every woman must aspire to the same version of success, but rather that women should feel empowered to define success for themselves.

THE DISCOMFORT OF WANTING MORE

Ambition, Visibility & Building a Career on Your Own Terms

What events transpire when the career you have built no longer encapsulates the extent of what you aspire to create? Gabriella shares her experiences building a legal career and professional-services business while also expanding into books, media, speaking, podcasting, and thought leadership. This keynote explores why reinvention doesn't always require abandoning prior achievements, why visibility is a skill rather than a personality trait, and why opportunities often arise before individuals feel entirely prepared.

Audiences explore: why ambition can feel uncomfortable to articulate; the tension between credibility and visibility; how women can cease minimizing their own accomplishments; building a professional identity beyond a job title; seizing opportunities before feeling fully ready; managing criticism as visibility grows; why personal brand differs from self-promotion; creating multiple chapters within one career; defining success on one’s own terms rather than absorbing someone else's definition; and recognizing that reinvention can evolve rather than necessitate discarding the past.

Ideal for: International Women's Day celebrations, women in business gatherings, leadership conferences, professional services, women's networks, entrepreneurship initiatives, and emerging-leader programs.

REINVENTION AFTER CHANGE

Careers do not exist in isolation from life changes. Motherhood alters perspectives, relationships evolve, families change, and priorities shift. Occasionally, the life or career someone has meticulously constructed no longer aligns with who they have become. Gabriella discusses the uncomfortable transitional periods between chapters — when old identities no longer fit yet new ones are not fully developed. Reinvention is often perceived as a dramatic launch; however, in reality, it can manifest as more subtle changes — utilizing existing expertise in novel ways, saying yes to unexpected opportunities, developing a public voice, or simply acknowledging a desire for the next phase of life to look different.

This conversation is particularly relevant for women navigating motherhood, professional shifts, separations, leadership transitions, or considerable life disruptions.

BUILDING A VISIBLE PROFESSIONAL BRAND

Gabriella has successfully forged a visible public platform alongside her traditional professional career. Her work now encompasses law, books, speaking engagements, television, radio, podcasting, social media, and relationship commentary. This diverse experience has equipped her with insights into an increasingly pertinent question for professionals and leaders: How do you enhance visibility without compromising credibility?

Gabriella explores: developing a unique point of view; transforming professional expertise into thought leadership; communicating outside the confines of your profession's language; becoming comfortable with visibility; maintaining credibility across various media; strategically utilizing books, podcasting, and social platforms; distinguishing personal brand from self-promotion; and determining the ideas your name should be associated with. This theme can complement women's leadership events or be presented as a specialized session for professional-services and entrepreneurial audiences.

COMMUNICATION, CONFLICT & WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP

Effective leadership also entails engaging in conversations that many would prefer to avoid: setting expectations, providing feedback, negotiating, saying no, managing disagreements, holding boundaries, advocating for oneself, and asking for opportunities. Gabriella integrates her broader work in communication and conflict management into women's leadership programming through her Four Pillars of Communication: Listen. Pause. Reflect. Respond. This framework supplies practical tools for deliberate communication during emotionally charged situations.

WORK, AMBITION & LIFE OUTSIDE WORK

Professional success exists within a larger life context. For countless women, career discussions cannot be entirely extricated from motherhood, partnerships, mental loads, caregiving, relationships, and the continual negotiation of time. Gabriella candidly navigates the interplay between ambition and life beyond work, acknowledging they do not exist independently. She explores areas such as professional identity growth, ambition within relationships, mental load, motherhood’s impact on career identity, and the guilt associated with pursuing professional opportunities. Ultimately, she presents a refreshing perspective that diverges from conventional corporate leadership speakers, focusing on the human behind the title.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY SPEAKER

Gabriella's work is especially well-suited for International Women's Day events seeking content that exceeds typical motivational speeches. Possible themes include: The Discomfort of Wanting More, Ambition, visibility, and crafting a career on your own terms; Reinvention; Who are you when the planned version of life changes?; Listen. Pause. Reflect. Respond.; Communication, difficult conversations, and advocating for yourself; and Before It Breaks: What our relationships teach us about communication, resilience, and human behavior.

Gabriella can customize her keynote to the organization, theme, and audience while preserving the practical, conversational, and narrative-driven style that underpins her broader speaking engagements.

WHY BOOK GABRIELLA?

Gabriella combines perspectives that are rarely found within a single speaker. As a practicing family lawyer, business owner, author, podcast host, regular media commentator, international speaker, mother, and professional who has intentionally expanded her career beyond traditional boundaries, her insights are deeply rooted in lived professional experience rather than generic leadership slogans. Gabriella's speaking style is warm, candid, intelligent, and practical — recognizing both the potential that ambition offers and the complexities of building a career in tandem with a rich personal life.
