The conversations we have sooner can change what happens next.
Modern relationships rarely break in one dramatic moment.
They change in the smaller moments—the conversation that keeps being postponed, the resentment that gets dismissed as stress, the distance that starts to feel normal and the needs people stop expressing because they no longer believe they will be heard.
The Before It Breaks newsletter is a weekly note from Gabriella Pomare about modern relationships, emotional disconnection, conflict, repair and the questions people often struggle to say out loud.
It is a place for honest reflection, practical insight and deeper conversations about love in real life.
Each week, Gabriella shares a thoughtful note exploring one of the patterns shaping modern relationships and family life. You can expect conversations about:
Some editions will be drawn from Gabriella’s own ideas and observations. Others will expand on conversations from the Before It Breaks podcast, explore themes from her writing or respond to the relationship questions people are quietly asking.
This is not a newsletter about perfect relationships, quick fixes or telling people whether they should stay or leave. It is about understanding what may be happening beneath the surface—and finding better language for the conversations that matter.
You love your partner but feel increasingly disconnected.
You are wondering whether you are moving through a difficult season or something deeper.
You are exhausted from carrying the emotional or practical load of family life.
You feel lonely inside a relationship that appears fine from the outside.
You want to communicate more honestly but do not know where to begin.
You are rebuilding after separation or questioning what comes next.
You are interested in the realities of modern love, identity, motherhood, family and repair.
You do not need to be in crisis to be part of the conversation.
Sometimes the most important time to pay attention to a relationship is before anything has visibly broken.
Receive a weekly note about modern relationships, emotional disconnection, conflict, repair and the conversations people often have too late.
No perfect relationships.
No easy answers.
Just more honest conversations about what happens before, during and after everything changes.
I created Before It Breaks because so many of the most important relationship conversations happen only after the distance has become undeniable.
We talk about the affair after trust has been broken.
We talk about resentment after one person has stopped trying.
We talk about the mental load after exhaustion has become anger.
We talk about the relationship after someone has already decided to leave.
I want to move the conversation earlier.
This newsletter is a space to explore the things we notice but do not always name: the quiet disconnection, the repeated argument beneath the argument, the pressure of modern family life and the moments that can either bring people closer or move them further apart.
Not every relationship can or should be repaired. But everyone deserves greater clarity about what is happening, what they need and what conversation may need to happen next.
